Each student that is taking the class must have the book “Cabin Fever: 20 Modern Log Cabin Quilts” that can be purchased through Natalia Bonner or through your local quilt store. The recommendation is that students select their fabrics and have them pre-cut before class to be able to complete the Coverlet which is 96×96 square size. At our Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 monthly meeting, Teresa Coenen of “Stitching Tree” from Woodbine IA will be our guest speaker.

You won’t want to miss Teresa’s program in the evening. We are playing her popular “Traders Dice” game. We will have tables set up for the meeting. Everyone is encouraged to bring 20 – 2 ½ inch brights to trade. Teresa will give us a free pattern to complete the squares we have collected. Also, Teresa has asked that anyone with Christian themed quilts to bring them to the meeting.

Trunk Show:Teresa will bring a trunk show of her faith-based quilts. Many of the Omaha area quilters may have constructed these quilts and they are encouraged to bring theirs to show as well. The quilts she will bring are Bible Studies (73 6” blocks representing the books of the Bible), Women of the Bible (40 10”&15” blocks representing 40 women in the Bible), Have A Little Faith (20 5” blocks representing concepts regarding faith), and 10 Commandments (10 10” blocks representing the 10 commandments). She has various sizes and setting for each quilt.

Fiber Works’ exhibition “Expressions in Fiber”

We are showcasing 3 dimensional art, “Material World” and unique quilts.

Fiber Works is a group of 12 fiber artists from eastern Nebraska. Our quilts made for the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks system are traveling across the United States.

Currently, the quilts are at Joshua Tree National Park in southern California. In February, they will travel to Saguaro National Park in Arizona, then to Hawaii in March. They will continue to travel to National Parks across the nation through 2017.
