DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS MAY 13, 2025 AND WILL NOT BE EXTENDED.
Pieced: Entry contains primarily hand or machine piecing. Small amount of other techniques permitted.
Appliquéd: Entry contains primarily hand or machine appliqué. Small amount of other techniques permitted.
Mixed: Entry is constructed using a substantial amount of two or more techniques, such as appliqué and piecing. The technique does not include quilting or trapunto. Please describe the technique.
Bed Quilt: Quilt intended for use on a bed. The minimum size is 60” wide by 72” long.
Wall Hanging/Throw: Quilt intended for wall display or use as a throw.
Innovative Art: A unique and/or original design (any size) not made from a pattern.
Modern: Including, but not limited to, bold colors, prints, solids, contrast, improvisation, negative space, alternate grid work, inspired by Modern
Design.
Miniature: A scaled version of a large quilt. Must be reduced in scale. Quilts must measure 24” or smaller per side.
Group Quilt: The entry is made by two or more people. Entry must be entered under the name of the owner OR the name of the individual in charge
of the project. This category does not include professional (for hire) quilted quilts. A group name may be entered as the maker.
Crib/Baby: Quilt intended for use by a baby or child.
Bag/Tote/Clothing: The entry is a bag of any size or type. It may or may not have a closure or handles. Organizers are considered part of this
category. Quilted clothing is included in this category.
Other: Entry is constructed using one special technique such as whole cloth, stenciled, crazy quilt, embroidered, etc. Table toppers/runners, and tree
skirts are included in this category. Please describe the item and technique used in the appropriate space on the entry form.
*Professional: If you paid someone to quilt for you, you must choose one of the professional quilting classifications.
Hand Quilted by Self: Must be quilted entirely by hand.
Domestic by Self: Quilting was done on a table-top sewing machine where the machine is stationary, and the quilt is moved.
Longarm Custom by Self: Quilting was done on a longarm machine with different quilting designs in various areas of the quilt.
Longarm Quilted by Self (Computerized or self-guided): Quilting was done on a longarm machine by the maker. This can be computer-guided or guided by the quilter (pantograph or free motion).
First Quilt Show Entry: First quilt show entry by the maker in any show.
Holiday Theme: Entry represents holiday theme (Halloween, Christmas, etc.)
Scrap Quilt: Must contain a minimum of 35 different fabrics, excluding backing fabric.
2025 Challenge: The 2025 Challenge entry follows the challenge rules as defined.
OQG Mystery Quilt: Any quilt made from the OQG Mystery Quilt project.
Past OQG Class Quilt: Any quilt made in an OQG class. Cite year and teacher in description. Must be completed within the last five years.
Junior Quilt: Entry made almost entirely by a youth aged 18 years old or younger, with some assistance by an OQG member.
ALL ENTRIES WILL BE EXHIBITED AND/OR JUDGED BY CATEGORY. EACH ENTRY CAN BE ENTERED IN ONLY ONE STEP 1 CLASSIFICATION. QUILT SHOW CHAIRMAN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MOVE ENTRIES TO A MORE APPROPRIATE CATEGORY FOR JUDGING.
